We'll start with the original square edge and tapered edge plaster boards for all your general purpose plaster boarding.
Plaster boards come in a range of different sizes 8x4 and 6x3 being the most popular sizes and thicknesses being 9mm and 12.5mm and in some cases even thinner boards to 6mm.
There are two different ways to install plasterboard either tacking or sticking the boards using either drywall board adhesive or a stick foam depending on your situation

• Fire boards mainly used in places that are likely to Have a fire, i.e. Kitchen industrial scale units and round RSJ steal beams the fire resistant boards are there to provide you with more time to exit your building/home if a fire was to break out.Fire boards are commonly red boards
• Soundboards also known as acoustic plaster boards are a specialised material that is designed to improve sound insulation in walls and ceilings commonly this board is blue
• Moisture Boards protects walls and ceilings from high humidity helping prevent damage in wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens, this board is green.
• Foil Back Boards used as a vapour barrier for moisture control. This is something you should consider if you are renovating your home to help against Damp also good on new extensions. This board is commonly Gray the same as a standard board with a foil back.
